70 percent of the study’s respondents stated that sales for sterling silver were up from 2009, with less than one fifth reporting stagnancy in the market. The sale of loose diamonds and diamond jewelry closely followed the upward trend of Silver, with 41 percent of interviewees again reporting better results than in 2009.
Other strong categories of note stemmed from pearls and colored gemstones. In-house, custom designed bench work jewelry and designer jewelry were up 14 percent and 11 percent respectively.
